The FUTURE of AFR
On September 20, 2025, during the See You In The Wind event, Terri proudly announced Shirley “Storm” Vaughn as the new President of Atlanta Female Riders. Terri believed it was the perfect moment to pass the torch—because every great leader knows when it’s time to empower another.
Over the past year, Shirley has worked tirelessly to support the success and growth of AFR. She deeply believes in the vision, values, and strong foundation that Terri built. Terri has full confidence in Shirley’s leadership, recognizing her dedication, commitment, and passion for AFR’s mission.
With fresh ideas, renewed energy, and a heart for sisterhood and community, Shirley is excited to elevate AFR and the See You In The Wind annual event to new heights. Terri believes—and trusts—that under Shirley’s leadership, AFR will continue to rise, thrive, and inspire women riders for generations to come.
The future of AFR is dynamic! Our lofty goals include expanding our MSF Scholarship, overnight AFR ride events, collaborations with the Georgia Department of Drivers Safety(DDS) , and collaborations with several motorcycle groups and entities!
Atlanta Female Riders began in 2015 when a group of female motorcycle riders planned a ride to Lafayette, Louisiana. Terri Benn, founder, wanted a place for all participants to have the information they needed to be safe and have fun while riding from Atlanta to the Boot! Out of that desire for all riders to be safe and knowing several female riders who went down and were severely injured or died, Terri formally established Atlanta Female Riders, Inc. AFR is a certified 501c3 non-profit that believes in teaching women to be safe while riding through opportunities for education, rides, and social activities, as many female riders ride alone.
Atlanta Female Riders has a five-person Board of Directors and a Co-Executive Director, all of whom ride! As a collective, we want to grow and strengthen the female riding community in Atlanta throughout Georgia and the nation.
Terri Benn believes that every rider should ride their ride. With that in mind, she is often heard saying, whether women want to ride across the country or across the street, Atlanta Female Riders is here to help them get there!
